Who Says People Aren’t Giving to the Arts in a Down Economy?
Certainly not the Arts Council of Snohomish County! This year, the Arts Council is completing their “Live, Learn, Create” capital campaign. In partnership with Artspace, the Council is creating a visual arts education center combined with 42 live/work spaces dedicated for artists. The Council is on the home stretch of their $6 million private fundraising goal.
Every year, the Arts Council hosts a very successful auction called H’Arts. This year, however, they saw record-breaking results. Compared to last year:
- Attendance increased by 20 percent
- Donation values increased by 50 percent
- Dollars raised increased by 65 percent
- “Fund-a-Need” donations increased by 450 percent
The Collins Group would like to tip our hat to the Arts Council and their success. Thank you for demonstrating that steadfast cultivation and donor-centered fundraising really does produce results – no matter what the economy.

I will second Lara’s Valedictorian post as a TCG crew member with tale.
At IDC, our most successful capital campaign last year was a museum – The Oakland Museum of California.
Their PHONE/MAIL
Sorry – too many buttons on my keyboard.
Their PHONE/MAIL program raised nearly $500,000 from a membership base of less than 7,000.
This Museum, one of the largest in the Bay Area, succeeded through a powerful commitment to the East Bay Community, powerful and well-liked volunteer leadership, and an engaging case for support that only serves to strengthen its importance to the communities in and around Oakland.
They opened last week to rave reviews.
So, you can raise money in this economy, and the best practices work as well as they ever have.
