Inspiration in Idaho

“This is the new normal,” said keynote speaker Kim Klein. “We are not in crisis. Crises end. This is what we’ve got.” Nationally known speaker, consultant, and author (most recently of Fundraising in Unreliable Times) Kim Klein kicked off the morning with her trademark humor and plain-spokenness. She reminded the 300 attendees here at the Idaho Nonprofit Conference at Boise State University that the problems we may be facing in the nonprofit sector have been exacerbated by the economy, but weren’t caused by it. “Most money is still available,” she reminded us. “Seven out of ten people give.”

Some of you may have heard Kim speak at the last NDOA conference, where she was equally as inspiring. Did you know that ten percent of the workforce is employed by the nonprofit sector? Here in Idaho, it’s 11 percent. What a powerful voice for national and local social change we could be if we banded together.

TCG’s own Jim Hopper gave a great presentation to a full house on using social media to target your donors. I couldn’t believe the number of iPhones in the room! If you were there and have thought of more questions for Jim, you can contact him at jimh@collinsgroup.com.
