Crater Lake National Park Trust, Crater Lake, OregonCrater Lake National Park is the home of the deepest lake in the United States, and boasts over 500,000 visitors per year from around the world. In May 2007, Crater Lake National Park Trust retained The Collins Group to conduct a feasibility study for a $12.2 million capital campaign to complete a new Discovery and Interpretative Center, create opportunities to inspire “virtual visitors” across the globe, provide an innovative science curriculum throughout southern Oregon and beyond, and ensure the Trust’s sustainability. TCG recommended that Crater Lake National Park Trust embark upon a nine-month campaign advancement period, following by a repackaged campaign with significant public matching funds and a reduced private philanthropic support goal of $2.5 to $3.5 million. Sector analysis, fundraising strategies and organizational structure were also outlined.
