The Collins Group - The Northwest's Choice for Fundraising Counsel

Wing Luke Asian Museum, Seattle, Washington

Wing Luke Asian Museum is the only Pan-Asian museum in the country to represent the diverse experience of the 12.5 million Asian and Pacific Islander population. Founded in 1967 and named for the first Asian American elected official in the Pacific Northwest, Wing Luke Asian Museum has received national and international recognition for its work in creating dynamic, community-based exhibitions and programs which engage audiences in exploring Asian Pacific American themes. In 1985, The Collins Group managed Wing Luke’s first capital campaign for the first incarnation of the Museum. In 2003, we were hired to provided counsel for the Museum’s $23 million capital campaign to transform an historic hotel into an expanded, permanent home for the stories and keepsakes of the diverse Asian Pacific community. Located in Seattle’s International District, the museum has created a new cultural and economic anchor for the neighborhood and a new community-based museum model for the nation. In June 2006, Wing Luke was awarded a $900,000 challenge grant from the Kresge Foundation and in May 2008, they proudly opened their new doors. Following the campaign, TCG helped the Museum organize its thoughts and plans for a future endowment initiative.
